Fr. José Moret, SJ was born in Pamplona in 1615 and died there in 1687. He entered the Jesuits and taught philosophy and theology in Pamplona, Oviedo and Segovia. In 1654 he was named Chronicler of the Kingdom of Navarre, the first to bear that title. His most important literary work is his three-volume Anales del Reino de Navarra. The IB (now IES or Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria) Padre Moret referred to in the cancel is named for him.
