Written to believers “that their joy may be full\,” the main themes of the epistles are love and fellowship with God. Join us as take a closer look at the first generation of Christians and consider what the letters have to say to us today. \nThis course is offered onsite (space limited to 16) or via Zoom. SUMMARY:Praying with Gothic & Netherlandish Art
DESCRIPTION:Feb. 13\, 27 | Mar. 12\, 26 | Apr. 9\, 23 | May 7\, 2024 \nThis semester we will be praying with the work of several Gothic or Early Netherlandish artists\, focusing each evening on a different artist. We’ll begin with Duccio\, the final evolution in Italy of the icon tradition that we have been looking at for the last year\, and then with Giotto move into the beginnings of modern art. We’ll also pray with the works of the Limbourg brothers\, Rogier van der Weyden\, Dieric Bouts\, Hans Memling and Juan de Flandes. Join us for this spiritually enriching program. \nInstructors: Fr. Peter Fennessy\, SJ is a long-time member of Manresa’s ministerial team. Carole Sugrue served as a docent at the Detroit Institute of Arts for more than 35 years.
