DESCRIPTION:Every summer we reserve dedicated sessions for Individually Directed Retreats (IDRs) with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a Jesuit or trained lay person. The experience can help you slow down\, become more aware of God’s love and presence in your life\, and help deepen a loving relationship with God. There’s a special atmosphere in the house when people come together for a shared purpose\, growing closer to the Lord and to one another in silent\, prayerful communion. \n“In-session” dates allow for eight-day retreats as well as retreats of shorter duration (four-day minimum within session dates/times). Arrival time begins at 5:00 PM on the opening date of the retreat session\, dinner is at 6:00 PM and the retreat itself begins at 7:30 PM. We’ll begin with Duccio\, the final evolution in Italy of the icon tradition that we have been looking at for the last year\, and then with Giotto move into the beginnings of modern art. We’ll also pray with the works of the Limbourg brothers\, Rogier van der Weyden\, Dieric Bouts\, Hans Memling and Juan de Flandes. Join us for this spiritually enriching program. \nInstructors: Fr. Peter Fennessy\, SJ is a long-time member of Manresa’s ministerial team. Carole Sugrue served as a docent at the Detroit Institute of Arts for more than 35 years.

DESCRIPTION:Sept. 17\, 2023 – Types of Losses and Patterns in Grieving\nNov. 12\, 2023 – Grieving the Loss of a Son or Daughter\nFeb. 11\, 2024 – Grieving the Death of a Spouse or Partner\nApr. 14\, 2024 – Grieving a Sudden or Violent Death \nThese four Sunday afternoon reflections focus on various types of losses. They include time for prayer\, input from faith and psychological perspectives\, quiet reflection time and sharing with other participants.\nEach Day of Reflection is independent of the others\, although the first lays a foundation for all of them. You are asked to register for each afternoon separately. \nFee includes dinner. \nGroup Leader: Sr. Linda Sevcik\, SM\, Manresa’s Executive Director\, is a licensed clinical professional counselor. Her ministerial experience includes teaching\, counseling and spiritual direction. She has facilitated numerous grief support groups.
