Romans and Galatians take on the topic in a way that is as relevant today as it was when they were written. While Romans explores the theological depth of this concept\, Galatians focuses more on defending the idea of salvation by grace against those who would add works of the Mosaic law to receive salvation. DESCRIPTION:Silent retreat for men and women in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola \nHoly Week is the ideal time to move aside from one’s ordinary concerns\, to come away into the quiet and to spend some time pondering the mysteries of Jesus’ passion\, death and resurrection. The presentations offered on this retreat are illustrated with art works and can help us experience\, as if we were there\, what our Lord went through out of love for us and for our salvation\, from His final meal with His disciples until the break of dawn on Easter morning. In addition to the presentations and ample time for personal prayer and reflection\, the retreat includes the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper\, the Good Friday Celebration of the Lord’s Passion\, a healing service and a Holy Saturday morning Prayer Service of Sending Forth. \nPatron: Fr. SUMMARY:Praying with Art: James Tissot’s Life of Christ - Part II
DESCRIPTION:Jan. 28 | Feb. 11\, 25 | Mar. 11\, 25 |  Apr. 8\, 22 \nDuring our second semester\, we will continue to look at and pray about the life of Christ as painted by the French artist James Tissot (1836-1902). After a powerful religious experience in 1885 Tissot abandoned the lifestyle and art genres that had until that moment made him respectively notorious and famous. He dedicated the rest of his life to researching and reproducing Christ’s life as it would have looked in the Holy Land of His day. We will begin with the closing events of Jesus’ public life and then look at His passion and death during Lent and His resurrection during Easter Week. You may follow the story in The Life of Jesus by Andrea Tornielli but this is not a required text. \nFacilitator: Fr. Peter Fennessy\, SJ is a long-time member of Manresa’s ministerial team.

DESCRIPTION:Every summer we reserve dedicated sessions for Individually Directed Retreats (IDRs) with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a Jesuit or trained lay person. The experience can help you slow down\, become more aware of God’s love and presence in your life\, and help deepen a loving relationship with God. There’s a special atmosphere in the house when people come together for a shared purpose\, growing closer to the Lord and to one another in silent\, prayerful communion. \n“In-session” dates allow for eight-day retreats as well as retreats of shorter duration (four-day minimum within session dates/times). Arrival time begins at 5:00 PM on the opening date of the retreat session\, dinner is at 6:00 PM and the retreat itself begins at 7:30 PM. The retreat ends at 10:00 AM on the closing date of the retreat session. Alternately\, individuals may choose “out-of-session” dates for IDRs between September and April each year.
