SUMMARY:Book Study: The Tears of Things
DESCRIPTION:Sept. 15\, 22\, 29 | Oct. 6\, 13\, 20\, 2025 \nHow do we live compassionately in a time of violence and despair? What can we do with our private disappointments and the anger we feel in such an unjust world? These are the questions we will consider in this six-week discussion group on Richard Rohr’s most personal book yet\, The Tears of Things. \nRohr turns to the writings of the Jewish prophets\, revealing how some of the lesser-read books of the Bible offer us a crucial path forward today. He “synthesizes action and contemplation with greater passion and courage than ever before. By retelling the stories of the Biblical prophets\, Rohr calls upon us all to speak truth in our own times and to speak it with love.” \nFacilitator: Rosemary Insley is a retired chaplain and bereavement counselor with Master’s degrees in Pastoral Studies and Social Work. As a spiritual companion\, she guides others in the Spiritual Exercises and in retreats.

SUMMARY:Aging Gracefully
DESCRIPTION:Oct. 22\, 2025  | Nov. 12\, 2025 \nFinding Meaning and Purpose for the Later Years of Life \nHave you ever thought of yourself as a ‘vessel of love’? This image speaks to what I envision for the elderhood years…\,” says Joyce Rupp\, author of Vessels of Love. “During this lifetime\, whether we’ve been aware or not\, a Presence of immeasurable love has been flowing through [our lives]\, quietly filling the vessel of our inner being. Like vats of matured wine\, our ripened goodness has readied itself to move outward. . . Now is the efficacious time to tend ‘our tiny vessel’ so this graced goodness strengthens in us and benefits the life of those we encounter.” \nBased on Rupp’s reflections\, poems and prayers on the later years of life\, the program will help you reflect\, grow and embrace this sacred stage of life with peace\, meaning and renewed intention. \nRegistration Fee includes both sessions of this program. \nFacilitator:  Sr. Linda Sevcik\, SM\, serves as Manresa’s Executive Director. Her ministerial experience includes teaching\, professional counseling and retreat and spiritual direction.
