SUMMARY:Journaling as a Prayer Practice
DESCRIPTION:Mar. 10 and 24 | Apr. 7\, 2024 \nThese three sessions offer practical ways of developing and using a prayer journal as an integral part of your prayer practice. Whether you are already journaling or new to the idea\, each session offers practice exercises for spiritual journaling as a regular part of your prayer time. No writing skills are necessary\, just an openness to pay close attention to your review of prayer and then to capture your response for further deepening your relationship with God. \nThis program invites you to discover ways to journal best suited to your needs and offers an opportunity to discover how spiritual journaling can deepen your listening to the personal experience of God at work in your daily life. \nInstructions for Zoom meetings will be emailed to registered participants prior to each session. \nFacilitators: Lori Kneisler has over 20 years’ experience leading Bible studies and spiritual formation groups. A spiritual director and long-time journaler\, Lori enjoys exploring various methods of journaling\, always surprised by what emerges from the tip of her pen. Etta MacDonagh-Dumler is a spiritual companion\, Spiritual Exercises guide\, retreat leader and group facilitator. She is a longtime journal keeper who is attentive to how the practice has helped guide her in discernment and through her spiritual journey.

SUMMARY:An evening of discovery with Ignatian Spirituality Project
DESCRIPTION:Come and learn how you can be part of a ministry of hope and healing. \nManresa is hosting an evening of discovery with representatives from Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP) to give our community the opportunity to learn about ISP’s ministry to men and women recovering from homelessness and addiction\, and to appeal to those who might want to get involved in the work they do. \nISP offers hope and healing experiences through overnight retreats\, spiritual reflections and one-on-one companionship. Volunteers walk with people in recovery while sharing their own experiences of hope and healing. ISP is looking particularly for men who are interested in helping to restart their men’s program in the metro-Detroit area as a volunteer team member or supporter. No experience in drug or alcohol recovery or Ignatian spirituality is required\, though it would be helpful. \nPlease come and see how you can put your faith into action by serving God and the men and women of Ignatian Spirituality Project. \nPlease RSVP by March 16 to Allison Loecke\, ISP Regional Director\, via phone at 312.226.9184 Ext. 109 or email at aloecke@ispretreats.org.

SUMMARY:Being Sustained in All Things: Learning from Thomas Merton
DESCRIPTION:Jan. 15\, 22\, 29 | Feb. 5\, 12\, 19\, 2024 \nOur challenge today is how to live deeply from a place of love and joy\, yet face and respond to division and rapid change. \nIn this six-week series\, we will use the podcasts from Season 1 of “Turning to the Mystsics: Thomas Merton” (free from cac.org/podcast/turning-to-the-mystics) to deepen our relationship with God. Featuring clinical psychologist and student of Thomas Merton\, Dr. James Finley\, these reflections on Merton invite us to a deepening sense of quiet in the midst of the joys and difficulties of our lives. It is here that we begin to access being lovingly sustained and led by our loving God. \nParticipants are asked to spend a half-hour a day listening to part of a podcast\, reflecting on it\, briefly journaling\, sitting in silence with it and being prepared to share their thoughts in Zoom meetings. \nFacilitator:  Rosemary Insley is a retired chaplain and bereavement counselor with Master’s degrees in Pastoral Studies and Social Work. As a spiritual companion\, she guides others in the Spiritual Exercises and in retreats. \n*Zoom instructions will be emailed to registered participants prior to each session.
