DESCRIPTION:Sept. 16 | Oct. 7\, 21 | Nov. 4\, 18 | Dec. 2\, 16\, 2025 \nOur Praying with Art seminar during this semester and the next will be looking at pieces of art that are significantly different from anything we have seen in the last eight years. \nThis is going to be an enjoyable adventure into the life of Christ as depicted by dozens of contemporary artists\, images selected from a collection of nearly 200 pieces. The selections will include a wide variety of styles\, avoiding the overly realistic or abstract works. \nPlease join us in appreciating our contemporary artists and praying with their works. \nFacilitator:  Fr. Peter Fennessy\, SJ\, is a long-time member of Manresa’s ministerial team.

DESCRIPTION:Advent Longing—Advent Hope \nAs we name our deepest wishes and hearts’ desire—our holy longing—we open up to the blessings of the Advent Season and the gift of Advent Hope. We temper our consumerism and help those in need to experience a new gift of hope through music\, brief meditations and story-telling from the book of Isaiah. We find ways to embrace the darkness of the season and of our world. \nJoin us for the afternoon which includes presentations\, time for private prayer/devotion\, Sunday Mass and a delicious meal to round out the day. Your retreat begins at 2:00 PM; however\, you may arrive any time after 1:30 PM for refreshments and fellowship. \nFacilitator:  Fr. Robert Scullin\, SJ’s ministry includes service in the Office for Hispanic Affairs of the Archdiocese of Detroit and Hispanic and African American parishes. He served as Provincial of the Detroit Province and superior of the Colombiere Jesuit Community in Clarkston before coming to Manresa.

The second of Luke’s two-part history of the church\, Acts describes how the salvation promised to Israel in the Old Testament and accomplished by Jesus has now under the guidance of the Holy Spirit been extended to the Gentiles through Jesus’ divinely chosen representatives. Join us as we look at the ascension of Jesus\, the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost\, the ministry of Peter and John\, the conversion of Saul to Paul and Paul’s missionary journeys. \nThis course is offered onsite (space limited to 16) or via Zoom.
