Individually Directed Retreats

Individually Directed Retreat—Session IV

Every summer we reserve dedicated sessions for Individually Directed Retreats (IDRs) with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a Jesuit or trained lay person. The experience can help you slow down, become more aware of God’s love and presence in your life, and help deepen a loving relationship with God. There’s a special atmosphere in the house when people come together for a shared purpose, growing closer to the Lord and to one another in silent, prayerful communion.

“In-session” dates allow for eight-day retreats as well as retreats of shorter duration (four-day minimum within session dates/times). Arrival time begins at 5:00 PM on the opening date of the retreat session, dinner is at 6:00 PM and the retreat itself begins at 7:30 PM. The retreat ends at 10:00 AM on the closing date of the retreat session. Alternately, individuals may choose “out-of-session” dates for IDRs between September and April each year.

In-Session IDR 2026

Each year, May to August, Manresa sets aside specific dates for Individually Directed Retreats. Experienced men and women, Jesuits and others, form a team of directors so that, with this variety, each retreatant may have a compatible person to walk with them through the Spiritual Exercises. These designated sessions allow for retreats of four to eight days (minimum of four consecutive 24-hour periods/maximum of eight consecutive 24-hour periods). Sessions fill up quickly so it is recommended to register early.

+Our kitchen staff does its best to accommodate a large group of people. If your dietary restrictions are life-threatening or you require specific foods or preparation, we recommend you bring supplemental items for yourself. There is a small refrigerator and a microwave in the dining room for your convenience.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE REQUIRED DEPOSIT AND FEE:

The application fee/deposit for Individually Directed Retreats is the cost of one night’s stay ($110)
This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable but applied to the cost of the retreat.

Individually Directed Retreats are a set fee per day and are not donation based. Your retreat balance will be due before you arrive or when you arrive the day your retreat begins.
